Default Beatles on Ed Sullivan 50th Anniversary Celebration

Next Feb 14, 2013 will mark the 50th anniversary of the Beatles first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show.

Many of us have remained Beatles fans through the years. Some of us may only be casual listeners and some very, very few may not even care for the Beatles. But that appearance marked a change in the culture of the world and almost everyone in the United States remembers watching that show. It has become a part of who we are.

The Beatlemaniacs of the Villages is planning a huge celebration on that evening. It will be held at the Lake Miona Recreation Center. It just so happens that Feb 9, 2013 will be a Sunday night just like it was 50 years before. We will be replaying that episode of the Ed Sullivan Show in it's entirety with all of the other entertainers and commercials in glorious black and white, at exactly 8:00pm, 50 years to the minute from it's original showing.

But prior to that we will be serving a traditional English meal of Fish and Chips along with the dish called Scouse, a kind of beef and lamb stew that Liverpool is famous for. In fact the dialect of Liverpool is called Scouse and the residents are called Scousers.

After the meal a true Scouser, Mr. Chris Huston will speak. Chris is not only a Grammy winning recording engineer and record producer, but it so happens that he was a college classmate and very close friend of John Lennon. Chris was also a member of the very successful Liverpool band, The Undertakers and later was the lead guitarist with Joey Dee and the Starlighters. Chris will regale us with stories of what it was like hanging out with John and the other three Beatles back in the days before they were famous. Chris is bringing some of his personal memorabilia including photos signed by the Beatles. Attendees will get to meet Chris and ask him questions following his speech.

After the showing of the Ed Sullivan Show some of the fine musicians of the Beatlemaniacs of the Villages will play live Beatles music until........

This is truly a once in a lifetime event and will bring us all back (in our minds anyway) fifty years to a time when life was great.

Tickets are $22.00 per person and will be available soon. You can also buy a table of six tickets for $132.00 and guarantee that you and your friends will sit together.

Look for a post in the very near future on where to get tickets.
