In October and November, Florida Dachshund Rescue is planning on running an "Adopt a Senior Doxie" program. You can adopt a Senior Doxie (age 10 or over) for only $25. If the dog is located too far away, they will attempt to help with transportation.

Anyone looking to volunteer, you might contact them about being a transport driver. This would be a just once in awhile thing. Not an every day job. And you would only have to drive in your area. Say maybe you were willing to drive from Orlando to Gainesville for example. Or whatever distance you are comfortable with. They need people to transport dogs that are rescued and for dogs that are going to new homes and the new owners can't make the trip. You would only have to drive one leg of the trip. Other drivers would drive other legs of the trip. So you would not have to drive the whole trip (unless you wanted to). Also, people with airplanes who would be interested in volunteering to fly rescued dachshunds would be welcome I'm sure.
