The next meeting of The Villages Motor Racing Fan Club is March 1 at Colony Cottage Recreation Center, going green at 7 p.m.

The guest speaker is Jim "Freight Train" Fenton. Jim is a former Florida State Late Model Champion and a winner of the 1979 Florida Governor's Cup 200. He is currently a Florida racing historian.

Club meetings are open to all Villages residents – owners and renters – with appropriate Villages ID.

Just watched the Daytona race on Saturday, and just came back from the Daytona 500, and the new race format is not as bad as I thought it would be, however, it is much more exciting, there were multiple major accidents at both races. While exciting, this knocks out a LOT of race cars, and if the damage is major, they are out for the rest of the race. Jury is still out, need to see a couple of more races.
