Default iPad and TOTV

The last few weeks I have been getting unusual ads on my iPad. I've only noticed them on TOTV. I went to several iPad classes and the instructor always said you don't have to worry about viruses on the iPad.

Why then, do I get an ad for a political candidate here in Michigan when I am on TOTV? Today, on one TOTV screen I have three car ads -- Hyndai, Corrola, and Toyota. One of them was for a Leesburg dealership so that one may be legit.

Any ideas?

I get North Carolina ads and I have been here 2 years. However, I do family history research using N.C. & Va. Websites. So I assume my computer is confused and doesn't really know where I am.

You can thank Google for most of this....you visit a website based in Michigan, you'll start seeing banner ads from that area. Look for a winter coat online and your banner ads will start featuring outerwear....all just trying to make your online experience more personal LOL

How are you accessing the forum on your iPad?

If you are using Safari have you got "Block Pop Ups" turned on in Safari settings?

wish I could stop the ads that appear from my browsing history.. it is not just on TOTV, but Facebook, etc.. I shopped for certain items and then the ads show up on all the other sites.. I have no secrets from my hubby, he says"" Why you looking at new furniture or art work. or .... etc etc etc.. haha.. I am caught .

You can Get around the ads by using tap-a-talk and search for TOTV.
This will eliminate all ads and only show the discussions. At least that is how it works on my iPad

Through safari all the side and banner ads show up, bot do not open pop up windows or new screens.
