Default Sweetgum Closing for Cultural Enrichment

This is a hoot! I'm glad to know golfers will now get some much needed "culture." I just got this email:

Sweetgum Executive Golf Course

To ensure a successful transition from winter play, the District Executive Golf Management Team will be temporarily closing the Sweetgum Executive Golf Facility, effective April 23, 2017. Some of the cultural programs that will occur during the closure include aeration and topdressing. We appreciate your patience as we continue to meet your expectations in maintaining the infrastructure through the recommendations and agricultural programs that were implemented last fall. If you have any questions or need additional information on this transition, please contact District Executive Golf Offices at 352-753-3396.

I was hoping for classical music on the greens.

You mean there's no hope for Shakespeare on the tees?

Better play something in 2/2 or 2/4 time. Anything in 3/4 or 6/8 would throw my putting stroke way off. And 5/4 would be a nightmare

How about a poem in Iambic Pentameter?

OK:

I went to hit my putter
I thought I hit it good
But when it came up 12 feet short
I should have hit a wood

Are they being sarcastic in that the new "cultural program" will be replacing the LLC? Anyway I agree that they inadvertently left out the "agri." Even automatic spelling checking won't have caught this because "cultural" is correctly spelled.

No, no, no, you read it wrong. Not Shakespeare, he talks funny, worse than folks from Boston, if you ask me.

They are going to show how to make yogurt the first week (cultures, get it???) and the second week will be short studies on the Impressionists. They were going to have a political forum but....they really talk dirty, so that was umm....ash canned.

Thank you, dbussone, for sharing this important announcement.

And, yes, I most certainly do see what autocorrect must have done.

Just think! Oh joy! There are divas coming to sing opera on a fairway near you!

You see, it was meant to say 'arias' not 'aeration' and 'topdressing' simply refers to the elaborate, bejeweled costumes that divas must wear--no matter how hot it might be out there on the golf course.

I completely understand how that email might have looked a little weird to most people. But I am from a city where the Opera sings at the zoo sometimes in the summer. Sooooo, it was not much of a leap for me to understand the announcement.

You're welcome.
