Default Alternative to Meclizine

A friend is having problems with meclizine for vertigo. Any suggestions for other medications?

I went to the doctor because of issues with meclizine. They told me claritin something similar (antihistamine) would work. Walgreens makes a generic called I think Wal-itin. Just curious as to what problems they are having. I want to compare notes.

I was on that drug with no good results when I had positional vertigo. A 15 minute procedure where the doc rolled my head into various positions took care of the problem
