Default Would you recommend these ophthalmologists?

The following two ophthalmologists have been highly recommended from different sources as Retina specialists in the treatment of Macular Degeneration. Does anyone have any thoughts about these two?

Dr. Tolentino with Lange Eye
Dr. Vish (his actual name is much longer) with Ocala Eye

Any and all views are welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

Cannot speak to that specific doctor, but have been going to Lange eye for over 2 years, no complaints.

My friend Barbara lives in The Villages but was visiting with me in Tampa when it was discovered that she had Wet Macular Degeneration (WMD.) She received her initial treatments in Tampa, but asked for a recommendation in TV so she wouldn't have to travel so much for treatment. Her Tampa doctor recommended Dr. Tolentino, and explained that Dr. Tolentino and his father had pioneered and developed the treatment for WMD that she was receiving.

It had been explained to Barbara that they could arrest the progress of WMD but could not reverse its effects. Actually, since being treated by Dr. Tolentino, tests have shown a small amount of improvement.

Dr. Tolentino is also well connected for referring difficult patients for clinical trials of newly developed drugs for the treatment of WMD. Barbara was considered, but found to not be bad enough to participate.

Hi and thanks, Carl in Tampa,

Dr. Tolentino was very highly recommended so I am delighted to read your post. It is true that with wet AMD, once the bleeding is arrested, that as the swelling goes down some of the vision does improve. My former physician gave me 4 shots in my right eye which stopped the bleeding and my vision in that eye has improved somewhat. I have read some of Dr. "T's" bio and it is quite impressive.

Thanks again to all who have responded.
