Need garage sliding screen door

Where and who can we call to get an estimate for the screen doors for garages I see everywhere? We are just coming in and the home we bought doesn't have one. They appear to be a common fixture on a lot of homes and I have a feeling it's for a good reason. Thanks for your input.

There are several vendors at The Markets Of Marion who do garage screens. Custom Windows in Fruitland Park did ours 1-800-881-1573. Two car garage was about $800 a few years ago.

Re: Need garage sliding screen door

At one of the happy hours which seem to be a part of life in many of the CY Villas, a woman mentioned to me that she regretted putting screens on her garage because it made it more difficult getting both her car and her golf cart in and out of the garage. I never thought that having screens on the garage door would reduce the opening. May not be a big deal with a two-car but it might be with a 1&1\2 car garage door opening. Anyone have any similar observations about garage screens? George

We had sliding garage door screen installed. It is white screen--slides sideways. you do have to open it to get car/cart out of garage. You can see out but cannot see in. We do not regret it at all because our garage (2 car) stays so much cooler. Before we had it installed, we would leave garage door slightly open but then you had to worry about insects, etc., getting in. we love ours.

sandybill2, you missed my question. When you slide the screen door completely open, does it stick out beyond the side of the door and reduce the overall opening to the garage? George

We used Thumper, he did a great job and had the best price, his number is 342-7809, since ours was done several others in the neighborhood used him and everyone is happy with his work. We love the screen and use it all the time, helps ventilate the garage and keep it cooler.

Thank you all for your reply. That's one of the first things to get done. Take care.

We hired Hid 'n Screen a small local business and they did a great job. We love our screen door on the garage. We also had one put on the front door. Love them both.

They do make a roll-up screen door that is remote controlled. This to me is the better alternative. If you leave home, with the sliders - you usually close the garage door and leave the slider open since you have to get out of the car to close it. Therefore we are pretty sure you are not at home, With the roll-up screen door, you can close it when you leave (or leave it up since it does not show. You also have the full garage door opening and this would be good for the 1.5 car garages.

The neighbor down the street put one in. The hand remote operates both the garage door and the roll-up screen door.

They are a bit more expensive but probably worth the bucks.

I do not have any the sliders since I keep the garage door closed but I do keep up on them.
