Default Amerikanos Grille

Went there this afternoon and thought I'd give my opinion.
As I said in another thread, there is no happy hour. A pint of Bud Light draft was $3. Mich Ultra is $3..50.
Service was very good.
The menu is VERY limited. 5 or 6 appetizer choices, 4 sandwiches,
4 burgers, 3 salads, and 6 entree choices.
The Reuben was not even close to Too Jays. The wings were very good (I had garlic feta).
The service was excellent.
The worst thing about the place is that they still just have that 1 seater bathroom which is way too inadequate for a restaurant that size. There was a line to get in the ladies room at 4 pm. I can't imagine what that will be like during snowbird season!

I talked to the hostess less than a week ago. They are starting with a limited menu but plan to roll out a full menu soon. I'm sure there will be some bumps in the beginning, so I wouldn't judge them too harshly for the next few months.

998 Del Mar Drive according to their web site. On Google maps, looks to be right next door to Katie Belles - could this be where Athens NY Restaurant used to be before they closed (then reopened several weeks ago in Lady Lake as Athena NY Diner).

It is where Athens used to be as the above post indicates. Been there twice. OK, but expect that it will get even better. And the menu will be expanded. Give it a shot.

I saw the full menu on The Villages Gourmet Club website.
Very few "Greek" dishes.
I think one item was $16.

Wife and I have eaten there twice now, and the Gyros are excellent. It comes with fries, but you can sub a house salad at no additional charge. The best we've had in The Villages.

Thumbs up

Went there for lunch today. My wife and I both ordered the Reuben. It was excellent. I would venture to say that it was as good a reuben as any other reuben in tv. It came on a baguette (?) roll and included fries. We will definately be back. They also plan on offering breakfast sometime in October.

We had a group of us and were talking to Joe at Red Sauce last night. We talked to him about happy hour etc. for Amerikanos. They are working very hard on their menu, pricing and happy hour. They also will be replacing the awning outside because the current one has leaks.
This is a new concept for them and they plan to do it right. We were all impressed listening to him. They will also have entertainment.

Ate here last week....started with Calamari and then had the Gyros. The size of the calamari could have been a little bigger but the Gyros were GREAT. The place is much cleaner than the former "Athens", we were seated very quickly, and service was very good. Talking to people sitting next to us, one comment made was they should have more greek type food...but overall definitely an "A" and we will be return!!

We stopped in on Tuesday and were very surprised at how busy it was. We got right in at 6:00PM, but people started lining up just after we were seated. Service was very good. Had the gyro and the fish and chips; both very good. The layout of the restaurant is not great - but then again, it wasn't that great when it was Athens either. Seating near the door is noisy and busy. But the decor is nice. Prices are OK too.

I'm looking forward to that. I hope they advertise it so we know when.
