Default Healthiest place to dine

I like eating out but "healthy" can be a challenge. What is your favorite healthy restaurant and what is your favorite dish?

I think you'll find quite a few vegetarian dishes at Thai Ruby. Their food is good, a little different but good.

I like to have lettuce wraps at Cane Garden but find the portion size so small it's not enough.

I think you can make healthy choices wherever you go. Vegetarian does not equate healthy to most people.

Low fat, More vegetables and fruit and for some low salt and sugar. Smaller portions of meat, fish or poultry.

The one thing that is hard to find are delicious and varied sides of vegetables in most restaurants. When is the last time you saw cooked cabbage or parsnips or kale or squash on the menu? Many people love sides of vegetables. My vote for the tastiest green beans, and also lima beans is at Oakwood Barbecue...(lot of ham in it, but tasty!)

Absolutely agree on not enough veggies. Believe it or not I will get the plain chicken at Golden coral with salad loaded with vegs and tons of vegs on the side (including that cabbage) for a good dinner. Secret. Don't look at dessert bar!

I like the blackened haddock with broccoli and salad at Codys.

Ruby Tuesday's is my new favorite restaurant. Their green beans and grilled squash as a side dish are yummy. Nice salad bar with healthy choices.

BTW there are some good coupons in Sunday's paper for Ruby Tuesday's.

Default Fried chicken

Does anyone know where to get excellent non-healthy delicious southern fried chicken.

Thai Ruby is the only restaurant that I know of who serves macro biotic food.

If you are a fan of tofu, they prepare it both fried and steamed. If you want it softer without a crust, request that the tofu be steamed.

I also recommend Ruby Tuesdays. Plenty of coupons in ValPak and newspapers. Last time there I had a grilled chicken breast topped with sliced tomatoes and a lemon sauce with fresh steamed green beans and spaghetti squash. There were several sides to pick from. You can add salad bar to meal for $2 or just get the salad bar. Calorie counts were on a lot of choices in menu.

They must be really rare if the burgers are still eating grass. ::

Default Cooked Cabbage and Other vegetables

"When is the last time you saw cooked cabbage or parsnips or kale or squash on the menu? Many people love sides of vegetables. "

It is a bit of a drive but The Mason Jar, 37534 Hwy. 19, Dona Vista, FL has had cabbage as a "daily vegetable" the last two times we have gone there including earlier this evening. Other daily specials tonight included glazed carrots, black-eyed peas, squash and tomatoes, and pinto beans. I tried the smoked pork chops this trip and will return for them again.
