Default Where do you find good sushi?

I am a sushi fanatic. Is there any decent sushi in or around The Villages? We currently drive 50 miles to Toledo to get good sushi, so I'm not opposed to a drive. And, yes, I know I could probably learn to make it myself, but where would I get the fresh seafood?

Default Sushi

We go to Sakura in Spanish Springs. Just as good as the sushi in NYC.

Definitely Sakura - no doubt the best around. Personally, I don't see a difference between the two Sakura locations for sushi. If you're going for a box lunch, however, I do like the one in Spanish Springs better.

My only complaint with Sakura's sushi has been that they weren't using enough rice on their rolls. The rice didn't completely cover the seaweed. They say that many Villagers don't want much rice, but I'm not one of those. Problem solved by asking for a full serving of rice on each roll when ordering. I've not had sushi there that I didn't like, but my favorites are spicy tuna and the spicy mango shrimp. So good!

As for making it yourself, I took classes several years ago from an amazing sushi chef and have all of the necessary equipment for making sushi rolls. As far as I'm concerned, it's not worth the time and mess required to make it at home. I gladly pay to have it made for me!

Bamboo Bistro near Target has a good sushi bar. I love the spicy tuna roll.

They're really good about giving you extra on anything, I always get extra wasabi.

I have found Sakura in Colony very good. Like to sit at the bar and talk with the Sushi maker.

Bamboo Bistro has this sushi roll with bacon in it, that is just to die for. I think their sushi is the best around.

If you want a great deal, you can drive down to Altamonte Springs. There's a buffet there called Koy Wan. It has an incredible sushi bar. Not the best quality I've ever had, but not bad. They also have a good variety of sashimi. If you're like me and like nigiri, you can load up with several different types of fish from the sashimi bar to add to your nigiri.

They also have many different types of makimono. They don't interest me very much but a lot people like them. You get to try perhaps 20 different types.

You can easily eat a couple hundred dollars worth of sushi for about $15.00
