Default Soft ice cream please!!

I would love a real soft ice cream shop here. Not the fake frozen yogurt...that's not ice cream, it's yogurt. I'd like the rich, creamy, thick soft ice cream like we had back home. We had 4 real good soft ice cream shops with in 4 miles of my house, one of which is Martha's Dandy Cream, which by the way won one of the best ice cream shops in the US just recently. How lucky were we to have such great ice cream practically in our back yard. I say bring back soft ice cream.

Thanks for the memories.

Memory is now jogged, thanks to y'all,
pretty sure Jersey Mike was there and then left.

CARVEL, I believe took over the JM's space.
Now, JM's is right back where they first were located.

All y'all and yours truly have seen certainly witnessed
a few changes in and around this area.

I use to go across the street during lunch time in high school for free Carvel cones (a friend worked there). Now that my tastes have matured, I get my fix at Ollies Frozen Custard on 441!! (much better than ice cream IMHO)!!

We had a Carvel in the Target shopping center. It closed years ago. So sad!

Here's a link to a Carvel in Vaginia that delivers locally.

A small smoothie [milk shake] cost $8.50.
A small sundae also cost $8.50.

Maybe that's a special delivery price. If not, I don't think they are going to make ends meet here.

I guess it's just sticker shock for me. How do I know?

Unhappy

We had a Carvel here about 5 years ago, also it changed owners and still could not make it.
Carvel killed their stores by producing in central locations and selling in supermarkets, including Publix.
Had a contract to purchase one about 10 years ago and when I talked to owners, they all were negative about their future, I backed out. Most have gone out of business.

Loved it when I was younger not so much now. I did like the "One Take Tom" ads.

I used to work at a Carvel on Rockaway Parkway. I could make 5 small cones in one hand. Now I satisfy my urge for carvel at Ollie's. It's not the same taste, but it's delicious.

I know you'd love Carvel's (which was near Target and then closed). However, I'd settle for Dairy Queen.....I have simple tastes.

How about a real BAKERY that bakes hard crusted breads?

I was very sad to see Brewsters close, they made their own and it was awesome!
That is what I remember also.

Was that across from the Bayview Projects? Or further north near the LL?

There used to be a Carvel store on 441 near Outback Steakhouse but it closed a few years ago. There was also supposed to be a Friendly's where IHOP is now on 466 but the company went through a restructuring and decided not to go in there.
