Somebody help me. I just recieved a message fromAVG telling me my license will expire in 29 days and prompts me to purchase a new license now. The AVG was loaded free and has been updated on a continuum for approx 3years ago? Do I need to buy AVG now?

Default Been a PC tech for years now.....

...and use the Free AVG for Anti-virus and free Zone Alarm for Firewall exclusively on all my PC's and have never had an issue.

Used to use Symantec and / or McAfee in the past but found they they cause enough issues to make me stop using them.

One person's opinion!!!

If you are using a Microsoft Operating System and you aren't talking about something pre-XP, I don't know why you wouldn't be using Microsoft Security Essentials. It's free, made for your system by the makers and I've found it to be a super security system.

I just had this problem as well. My computer guy said that AVG now charges for their service. He said that they have changed things and AVG is not as good as it was anyway. He suggested that I download AVAST which is free. I am now using AVAST.

I'm still using AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2011. It auto updates regularly.....I initiate the scans manually every week or so. Never finds any issues.

I have AVG free anti virus, also free malwarebytes, and paid for AVG PC tuneup. I have no problems at all.
In the past I tried Symantec, McAfee and Norton and they all caused severe problems. Norton was the worst of all.

I've been using MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS and its free. Its works great and doesn't slow down your machine, over a year now and no problems......

(A phrase from the 60s) but I agree, AVG=good, Norton=problems

Just yesterday, I updated to the latest FREE version of AVG. AVG does make the free downloads a little tricky, making the other, paying, option more prominent. I also downloaded the AVG tool bar this time, which I'm really liking. I know that any search I do will return only safe sites.

I still run XP, but have never had the first problem with AVG.
