Default 2016 Olympics in Rio. Go or stay home?

Marlen Garcia: Olympic Games should go on in Rio | Chicago Sun-Times

I read Steve Trivett's opinion piece in today's Villages Daily Sun about athletes staying home rather than going to the Olympics in Rio this Summer. The Villages Daily Sun

He had fears of another Munich or some other kind of violent attack by ISIS or some other group.

I would probably stay home if offered a ticket and passport and other stuff but I am not an athlete has put so much of himself into that once in a lifetime performance at the Olympics.

Rio would not be high on my list of places to visit even in the best of times.

The best seat for the "games" is in your family room in front of the television. A close friend attended the Atlanta Olympic's in 1996. He spent a lot of time planning and money attending and was very disappointed. This was in the U. S. And remember the bombing there.

The only reason I would go to Rio would be to see an immediate family member compete. Even then, I would have to give it considerable thought.

I would stay home even if it was given to me free.

Rio Carnival is on my bucket list. I'll watch the Olympics on tv (and only an hour's difference).

Hope no athletes go
Not interested in watching any of it
I feel sorry for the
best in the world having to compete under such unsanitary conditions
What a show corruption by the olympic committee and organizers
Just shows you can buy anything

These athletics train for years for this one event and it's a shame it's being held in such a place. I wouldn't go.

Has anyone in national leadership stood up for our nation's athletes?

It looks to me like they are on their own.
