Default Experienced Acoustic Guitar Luthier

Looking for recommendations from you experienced acoustic guitar players .

I'm buying a new Yamaha acoustic guitar and am looking for the best person to do a great job on an initial setup.

What's your experience been with music shops/individuals near The Villages? What should I expect to pay?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You don't really need a luthier to do a set up. A guitar tech willdo just fine. I've taken some of my guitars to Jhonny at Sound Exchange II in Ocala. I've been very happy with him.

A fellow acoustic player in The Villages gave me the name of Sam Seufert in Ocala. I haven't used him myself though. 352-817-6261

Are you buying from a retailer? If so, they should supply the setup. If buying used it could be that it only needs a truss rod adjustment and possibly nut and/or saddle height adjustments. An honest luthier or tech wouldn't charge more than $30 or $40 max. I've done several of my own, but wouldn't be comfortable doing it for someone else, nor would I expect you to trust a stranger with your new prized possession. Good luck.

Thanks to all who responded.

In the end , I took my new guitar to Sound Exchange II in Ocala for an initial set up. It plays noticably better, turnaround time was quick and the price was right. I'm a happy camper.

Thanks for the feedback. Good to know that there are satisfied customers. I went to Sound Exchange II also and they seemed very reputable. Glad to hear your Yamaha turned out well and hope you enjoy playing it more.
