Default New ATM fees by Citizens First Bank

I have been getting cash from the ATM machine at my local postal station since I arrived here in 2010. No fees were ever charged.

Yesterday, I went to the ATM and tried to get some cash, but at the end on my transaction a message popped up that there will be a $3.00 fee to receive the money. I cancelled the transaction. I drove to the Citizens First Bank at Lake Sumter Landing, but they were not open yet. I tried the ATM in front of the bank and got the same message.

I then went to Winn-Dixie and did a little shopping, and got cash there using my Citizen's First ATM card. They do NOT charge a transaction fee.

This is a NEW fee that the bank is charging, for the use of their ATMs, and just wanted to let everyone know what's going on.

It was definitely my citizens first bank charge/ATM card. I guess I'll stop in at the bank tomorrow and ask them what happened. I have three accounts with citizens first bank, so that would not be the problem

OK, my apologies to everyone. I found my canceled deposit slip, and the numbers showed that it was a different MasterCard And not my citizens Bank card. My bad! Sorry.

are you sure you were using your citizens first bank debit card and not one of your other cards?

I did too. You have to have a Citizen Bank Account, O.P.

When I am in The Villages I use my Schwab card for cash at any Citizen's ATM. Schwab handles the fee somehow so it costs me nothing.

IMHO Citizens maintains a de facto monopoly on convenient locations within most of The Villages and takes advantage of that.

So did I, this afternoon. No fee. I never heard of a bank charging a fee for its own ATM card.

I believe you must have used a card other than Citizens First. They do not charge ATM fees at their facilities and you can use their card at any Publix here or out of state.

Rubicon - that is just one of the many wonderful reasons we were married.

Do you have to maintain a certain balance? I've never heard.of that to use the ATM, but who knows. I would talk to someone at Citizens.
