Default Oasis of the Seas Cruise 2/19/17

Anyone else from The Villages on this sailing out of Port Canaveral ?
With 5000 plus passengers I am sure there a few cruisers from TV. Any comments from anyone that has been on this ship ?

Thanks

We always cruise with Royal Caribbean but were disappointed in the Oasis. The Allure was much better. Our friends also felt the food, service and layout of the Oasis was not their best experience even though the Oasis and the Allure are supposed to be alike.

We love to cruise, but we will never go on a ship with this many passengers (6,000+) again. Waiting for elevators, trying to find tables in the dining room, food so-so. Casino is tremendous, but no separation between smoking and non-smoking made our visits very short. The entertainment wasn't so great either except for the Aqua diving show. Don't get me wrong, the ship is an engineering marvel; Central Park, and Boardwalk is pretty amazing but after you've seen it once that's enough. In the future give Celebrity a try.

We cruise almost always Celebrity & Royal Caribbean. We love both lines.
We have been on the Oasis & Allure many times and love them !! In fact we will be taking our 8th cruise on the Allure the 29th of this month. These 2 ships are the same layout.
Lots to do.
We did the Harmony in November when she came to Florida. It has a few difference than the other 2.

your right with stuff to do....but being 55+ we don't use the wave runner....we don't ice skate anymore.... zip line...no way....
being our age we are not attracted to this type of adventure, unless we bring our chidren and watch them.

the cost for these adventures that is added to the fare is wasted on us. just my opinion.

Give me a Spa Thermal Suite anyday.

the aqua show was canceled the last time we went, and they even canceled the make up show. I don't know why they only do the show 3 times in a 7 night cruise.

The trampoline wasn't working and the second time the lights for the divers was not working. we had seen it before. But felt like we were missing something this time.

I think the boardwalk and central park are amazing, and the elevator bar was also cool....but still too many people and not worth the cash.

The entrance off the hwy is horriffic. you must get into the correct lane to enter the specific ports.

Get on google and check out the layout of the roads before you go. I wish I could tell you where its docked, but they just moved it up there from everglades.

We just got off the disney 2 weeks ago and sat in the road for 45 minutes trying to get into the port. We were on the Valor 2 months ago and had the same experience. The lanes turn from 3 to 2 to 1 and the police presence doesn't help at all.

People get into the fastest moving lane and then cut everyone off at the entrance which makes the line move sooooo....slow....

Try getting there later, you might miss lunch, but you will also miss a huge headache of traffic.

Have fun....

Great Ship. Went Easter 2012 for our 50th Anniversary with our family. I expected a nightmare. It was completely filled, but ended up to be terrific. So much to do and easy on and off. Got to the ship at 11:30AM, no lines, checked-in and on board in 15 minutes. In the ports, there was never a wait to get back on board. We would definitely go again. Terrific show. - make reservations for evening shows-We have been on 35 cruises.

Check out Oceania .. Their smaller ships have under a 1000 passengers, their newer ships (marina and sirena) top out at 1600.. No childrens programs, no water slides .. no upcharges for specialty restaurants ( i think one gourmet experience for 16 or fewer people has upcharge) .. It's a bit more expensive, but you don;t get the feeling you;re in the middle of the midway at the state fair

We favor Royal Caribbean but have also been on a couple of Disney cruises which we enjoyed. What gets me is that on the Disney cruise you go to breakfast and then exit the ship. No waiting in a holding area. It works beautifully. Maybe it's because that don't have 5,000+ passengers.

Didn't care for the Oasis. Too big, not a personalized experience from the staff. Won't go on a mega ship again, prefer the smaller sized ones.

Thanks for the responses. We are intrigued by the big ship and are looking forward to checking it out. Doubt we would go back. Do like Celebrity and RC cruises.
