Preventing getting sick on plane from flu, colds?
I have seen a product which supposedly stops people from getting colds and flu during air travel but cannot remember the name of it?
Does anyone remember what this is and if any Villages' area or online resources offer this stuff? I am getting on a jet plane soon and would not like to be viewing the sites of where I am going-- Paris, Hollywood, Las Vegas (???)-- and would not like to be ill when doing so. |

There is Airborne and Air-Vita. You can get Airborne in the local stores, I have to order Air-Vita online - I use Amazon. There is also FluNada which is a sister to Air-Vita if you end up getting sick. They now have an Air-Vita Allergy that I haven't tried. Safe travels and have fun!

Don't try putting a gas mask on, the other passengers will freak out.

Two travel supply catalogs ( Magellen and Travelsmith ) sell a small device that you wear around your neck that ionizes a certain number of feet of air. I have used one of these devices when I get to the departure airport thru to my hotel at destination. It has worked for me. I also take Airborn in chewable form about 3-4 days prior to departure to boost my immune system. Drink lots of water to flush out your system once you get to destination along with a long hot shower. I bring along the Airborn hot drink mix for a nightly in room ( hot tap water) boost too. Use the hand sanitizer ( on the plane arm rest and fold out table ) I realize I sound over dramatic but I would rather be that then suffer thru c-dif as I di on a trip returning from Colorado!!!

Really? A concoction marketed by a flight attendant will prevent illness when every immunologist, bacteriologist, virologist, infectious disease specialist, public health expert, major pharmaceutical company have all failed to discover the secret brew? There is a reason it says
"these statements have not been evaluated by the food and drug administration. these products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease. " Supplement company Airborne to settle $23.3M suit Airborne settles lawsuit for $23.3 million The herbal supplement firm will settle class action lawsuit that alleges false advertising I suggest good hand washing. Here however is a product that will protect you from all the germs you may encounter |

The theory is that if you take certain supplements that it will boost the immune system. My doctor says that the dehydration and the fact that the tray tables and arm rests are full of germs from past flights is the biggest issue. I have a small pack of travel wipes and clean down the whole area and put a scarf over the bendy part of the head rest so my face isn't on another persons germs. It seems to help more than when I took airborne. Hubby the retired Boeing Design guy says the engineers who designed the airscrubers say they aren't used as efficiently as they were designed to as it costs them fuel to run them at optimal so the airlines have them turned down ie more recycled germs.

I always take Airborne. May be just luck but I've never gotten cold or flu since I started taking it. Always got a cold after plane trips before Airborne
