We use the same route as jpvillager. 141 miles from our door to the Georgia line, and 2 hours and 45 minutes. Time after time.

Drive exactly the speed limit. When you hit a 10 mph speed reduction warning sign, take it off cruise, it will coast down the 10 mph almost exactly by the time you hit the lower speed limit sign, reset the cruise control and do it all again at the next speed reduction warning. Stay on your toes. Ever wonder why there are speed limits when nobody wants to drive the limit?
This is what we do, 3-4 times a year going to visit my brother in N. Carolina. Haven't seen a officer in Waldo, Starke or Lawty in over a year. Keeps us off the miserable traffic on I95 until Georgia.

Drove it three times in October 2015.

"every 2-3 miles" or so south of I-10 if you obey the speed limits posted.

That's the route we always use. We find the drive relaxing through the Ocala Forest.
