We had that in our place in the Norcal.

After our son's HS graduation we went on a camping trip with the whole family who came to town for the graduation party. We were out of cell phone range in the Sierra's east of Nevada City for a week.

When we were returning, a call came in from the alarm service saying there was an attempted break in. When we got home there was a card from the police with a request that we call them. An officer came out and told us that a burglar tried to force open a window and the alarm went off and scared him away.

The officer said he walked around the house checking and looked in windows to see if there was any damage. We had a six foot mannequin dressed in black graduation robes for the party just inside the front door that the cop said he just about shot.

Just because the service worked are paid low wages doesn't mean they are not honest hard working people. Would you pay $40 a week to have your lawn mowed? Would you pay $150 to have your house cleaned? They are paying low wages because that is the only way to get your business.

Maybe this house was easiest to get into. Maybe they do so many they justhit the jackpot on the silverware. These type of roll through criminals play the odds and know older residents are more likely to have nice things. They rarely take electronics and that sort according to the officers article and warning.

Unfortunately, there are probably more than just these 2 guys in the this gang that haven't been caught. Hopefully the authorities will deport these 2 after serving a long time in jail.

IMHO this type of brazen criminal knows exactly what to look for; how to size people up and cases the homes beforehand. They are not dumb and dumber looking to grab what they happen to find. I'm glad at least two are caught but according to what I read one or more are in a nearby hotel. Be watchful and careful out there.

Time to get new appraisal on the silver. Or time to sell.

I feel bad for the cops, the helpful neighbor and the dog, but most of all I feel bad for us.

It is such a blessing to now live in a community where the police are not so overburdened with shootings, armed robberies, etc that they can take extra measures to solve crimes that are mostly ignored in the more crime -ridden neighborhoods. Thank you Law Enforcement!

Send them back, in the luggage compartment of the plane, to the hole they crawled out of never to return.

Thanks to Gracie's reprinting of the Sheriffs alert, many of us were on the lookout? Too bad there wasn't a way we could all get a red alert instant message in extreme situations that we could share on our individual village websites so few are left in the dark.

I don't like that one is out of jail as they seem bold enough to keep on with their thieving as it is a yearly thing. We will have to keep on finding ways to fortify ourselves and our neighborhoods so we are not attractive to them. It seems our police need a big congratulations for catching two of them and for their seminars and other ways of getting us informed. Thank you.

Let's also thank the magistrate for letting him out on chump change bond.

The Villages is a safe place until your purse is stolen, your house is broken into, your cart or golf clubs stolen while your having lunch at a restaurant, your credit card information is stolen..............

I keep thinking about a culture that over time continues to steal. I just can't fathom how these things are taught to children that are loved.
