Default Metal Detecting question

My name is Dave Spangler from Phila. Pa. My wife and I are coming down to the Villages for the month of May. This is a trial trip to see how we feel about moving there. My question is, is it worth it for me to bring my detector with me? Is there places where I would be able to use it? I am concerned because I saw on the internet that Florida now is become strict about where you can use them. Thank you for any info you can pass on. We are headed down May 2 thru the 30th.

I presume you mean "metal" detector and not "medal".

Anyhow, in The Villages, there would be nothing worth looking for.

The area was basically cow pasture and orange groves before it was developed.

I have seen people using detectors at the beaches but outside of old pop tops, a few cents in coins, and the rare lost ring, it is pretty useless.

Just enjoy the pleasure of The Villages.

State and national parks typically disallow them because many of those areas have been designated archaeological sites.

The metal detector club regularly offers a service for finding lost items, usually rings. Find one and you have probably made a friend for life. So yes bring it.

I grew up in suburban phila, and spent my whole life in pa until coming here. PS, do not bring your snow shovel, unless you are artistic and plan to make a decoration out of it. Hope you enjoy your stay and decide to buy.
