Mowing the lawn
My husband mows our lawn and I was wondering with this heat index being over 100 what time in the morning can he start mowing the lawn without disturbing the neighbors. He waits until 9:00am. I think 8:00am is a good time. When we lived up north we couldn't start mowing until 9:00 am. What's the rule of thumb here?

We mow between 8 and 8:30 a.m. Our neighbors are definitely up so we are not disturbing anyone. In fact, some of the lawn maintenance companies mow around the same time.

Thanks we went out at 8:00 am and saw a lawn mowing company down the street so we did our lawn.

Although the early morning is cooler, the grass is usually much too wet to mow then. Obviously the commercial mowers mow in the early AM, but then they mow in the rain too! For the grass's sake you should mow when it is dry, usually in the PM, but then it is very hot. I, personally, mow my lawn later in the day so the mulching mower can do its job without clogging. The grass can be shredded instead of being cut if you mow when it is wet. A dull blade can also shred the grass. Grass that is poorly cut is susceptible to disease. I have gotten pretty used to the Florida heat. I drink a lot of water, put on the sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses and then go out and mow the lawn. After mowing I hop in the shower and then hit the neighborhood pool. Heaven! I love my lawn.
