As I'm going through my belongings, what to get rid of, what to pack for the Villages, I ran across my 25 year old sewing machine. I use it maybe once or twice a year. So the question is, do I bring it? Or are there sewing machines at some of the rec centers?

I don't know of any sewing machines available at the rec centers. But you may want to consider the cost of shipping as that usually goes by weight verses getting a second hand or new one here. I brought mine in my car so that was cheaper.

I would bring it if you can. I left a beautiful old Singer and then had to purchase another one when I once again started sewing. The new Singers are absolute junk compared to the old one I left behind.

When I first got down here all I wanted to do was play, play and then play some more; as I got used to being here the "playing" got old and the summers are long and very hot and once in a while I wanted to sew in the cool AC! So had to buy a new one.

I brought mine, but you can get a simple sewing machine at Sam's Club for a little over a hundred bucks. Girls are right, no sewing machine's in rec centers, no pencil sharpener's either. I am going to try to get a group together and march.
