Villages Taxi Service
Unfortunately I still work and fly out of Orlando most weeks. Until recently all was going well using TV Shuttle Service to/from MCO and then catching a taxi (TV Taxi) when the Shuttle brings me home late. Several weeks ago all this changed. I just called TV Taxi about a taxi for late tomorrow evening and they told me it was full. I have NEVER, repeat NEVER, been in a Taxi that had more than 4 people in it that time of night, and often times I am the only one.
Can you guys provide me other taxi options from the Shuttle stop in Brownwood? Does TV have Uber drivers? Thanks for all suggestions! |

The option of using a service that picks you up or drops you off at your home is available. No need to get a taxi from the shuttle drop off to home. Village Airport Van - Airport Shuttle/Transportation for The Villages You may have a longer drive time as the shuttle goes to each person's home.

Signature shuttle in The Villages provides door to door service for $35.00 one way. You can book online at signaturecoachinc.com. Oops, looking at website now, looks like their prices just went up to $40.00 one way.

Thanks, I've heard they are good but longer in-transit time.

If you live near Brownwood you'd be among the first passengers to arrive home since Village Airport Van starts dropping off at the south end of TV.

I too am a monthly traveler flying in and out of Orlando. I gave up on Villages Transportation shuttles after one of their drivers left me stranded for a pick-up at the airport. I've been using Signature now the last couple of times and so far am very pleased -- pick-up and drop-off at my house and newer vans. They got off to a bit of a shaky start when they first started here but now seemed to have worked out the kinks.

Good to know about Signature, I'll give them a try. I have not had a problem with the Shuttle, just the TAXI to get me home. Frustrating.

I too have had trouble with the taxi portion of the Villages Transportation. Once they left me stranded at Brownwood for 40 minutes telling me constantly that they would be there any minute. A second time picked me up 45 minutes late to catch the bus for the start of the tour almost missed my cruise. Both of these instances the taxi was booked well in advance so seems like they are not to good at scheduling.

How do we get Uber started in TV? :-)

Uber is here in The Villages and been here a while. Just not many drivers.

There are not enough customers for a Uber driver to do well on a constant basis at this point.

I would definely use them if I knew they could get me to my destination and back. Too few available and not necessarily when I need them.

I've never had problems with the taxi portion for Villages Transportation however I'm trying to get just a taxi from our house to McDonald's on 441 to catch the Cruise Connection bus to Miami. Just called Villages Transportation, she hesitated regarding taking the reservation (first told me to call back closer to departure & it's within a week), took the reservation but never took down the email address for confirmation. Then for the return trip, I am to call them 1 hour before arriving at the McDonald's for a pick up. I asked why no reservation and was told 'that's how we do it for a return' (after she asked me if there would be a return date). I asked the question 'what if' there isn't a taxi available with an answer of 'we hope that doesn't happen'. Not feeling real comfortable with the entire reservation process. Any other suggestions?? I won't ask a neighbor to take us as it is at 6:10am!

Used the The Villages Transportation many times, but recently had a real problem with the taxi pickup. After coming in on the "red eye" from the west coast, arrived at Brownwood at 7:20 am with no taxi in sight. Waited 15 minutes, called them to be told they were just around the corner. Waited another 10 minutes, and were told to "sit tight", they were in traffic (7:45 am in The Villages ???), and anyway, our shuttle had come in early. I know for a fact the the driver radioed in from the highway when we were about 15 minutes out. When they finally arrived after another 15 minutes, the driver apologized telling us they had their signals crossed and he had been waiting at our house. I realize I was up all night and more than a little tired, but I don't think this is any way to run a business. Very disappointed.
