I saw three guys stand when a lady came to sit at their table at a gathering of retired military officers the other night! Someone at my table commented that they hadn't seen that in ages and ages!

An area where manners are still behind the "power curve:" Unsolicited 'phone calls where some "kid" at the oher end insists upon calling me - an "elder" - by my first name! While I have grown more and more immune to that, it still grates against the way I was brought up!

I have been impressed since I came to TV three years ago that many if not all of my 'phone calls to some company or institution are actually answered by a real live person! Nothing I hate more than the seemingly never-ending "press ### for xxxx!"
