All of these alarms do have a 9 volt battery. It is located in at swing out door / access in the outside edge of the unit. If it goes bad, your alarm will chirp until it is replaced and the unit reset by pushing the test/reset button on the front of unit. It is a good idea to replace all of the batteries is one is bad as odds are they are all the same age.

You also have a "master" alarm. It is the only one that is both a smoke and CO2 alarm. It is typically centrally located in the kitchen / living room area. These alarms have a "life" and just go bad. They typically need to be replaced somewhere in the 10 year range. Replacements can be found many places ..... HOWEVER, it is somewhat hard to find them that have the same wiring connection needed to do a simple plug&play. All TV Ace Hardware do have replacements that just plug in and their price is actually competitive.
