Warren I read an article that explained carrier pigeons were once so plentiful that they blackened the sky. but then hunters killing them by the hundreds daily caused them to disappear and th last one died in 1919 (as I recollect). Experts wanted to see if they could clone the last one. so what this resident has in his/her back yard is not the same carrier pigeons described in this article or is it?. At least that is what I gathered from this article and I read it more than once because I was so fascinated by he fact that the carrier pigeon population was so vast at one time. Perhaps an avian expert could chime in here
