SLAL (South Lake Animal League) Programs that you may be interested in.
Nourish The Needy Program: they work with pantries to supply pet food to those who can't afford it.
Pet Bequest Program: for owners that have set up a charitable bequest donation, they will re-home your dog or cat.
Pet Peace of Mind Program: they assist hospice patients with finding homes for their pets. (I'm not sure if they partner with hospices in The Villages or not. You would need to verify.)
Did you know they rescue, rehabilitate and re-home an average of 45-50 dogs and cats each month. If you have any leashes, collars, food, etc. that you don't need or want to donate new items, they can always use them. Here is their wishlist:
