I have lived in termite prone areas since 1983, mostly in Florida My husband was raised in southwest Florida and has lived here for over 60 years.
We have lived in a number of different houses and neither of us has ever had termites or termite insurance.

Don't let your friends and these companies who sell that "protection" scare you.
There have been few instances of termites here in TV.
The homes are newer and although it you could possibly have termites, the odds are against having them for many, many years.
That's why these companies sell insurance!!! That's how they make their big bucks.

Go with your gut and do what you're comfortable with doing, but don't let scare tactics influence you.
