I know I am making a generalization here, but I would suspect that most of the posters that are commenting about dogs peeing in their yards are not pet owners.

I am a dog owner. If a dog owner takes their dog to another person's yard for the expressed purpose of relieving themselves, this is totally wrong and deplorable. Enough said.

I utilize the dog parks quite often. However, I also take my dog for a walks/runs. As others have posted, the summertime the streets are very hot and can burn the pads of a dog. To prevent this I will try to walk the dog early in the mornings or late afternoons. I try to make sure she takes care of all of her business before we leave. I suspect other dog walkers do the same. We do not have sidewalks in my neighborhood so we must walk in the street. Walking to the mail center along a busy street can be quite hazardous and we frequently have to walk into yards to avoid being hit by golf carts. She is not running 10 to 12 feet into someone's yard. We are right on the edge. On rare occasions, my dog has relieved herself in someone's yard. If it is poo, I will pick it up. Pee there is not much you can do about. I guess if you have a bottle of water one could poor in in the same place to dilute the urine. I am (and most other posters) a responsible pet owners. If you want to come out and yell at me, then so be it.

For the record dogs are welcome in my lawn as long as there is a responsible owner at the other end of the leash.
