Don't even think about means testing for anyone within 20 years of full retirement age. People makes assumptions when they plan for retirement and it is just wrong to change the rules half way through the game. I don't care how much money you have, if you are within 20 years of full retirement age, hand off. Full disclosure: SS does need reforms that should be phased in over time. I would, however, immediately remove the maximum SS tax that can be paid in a year. This never made sense to me. And yes, it would impact me.

No, it is NOT the posters who have said that some of the Republican candidates will reduce Social Security retirement benefits. It has been said by THE Republican candidates themselves.
Personally, I am in favor of means testing for Social Security retirement benefits. If a retired person has enough savings and investments, they should not get the full amount of retirement and have it based on a sliding scale from a small reduction to full reduction.
Yes, everyone would still be forced to pay into SS and Medicare.
