No reason that The Villages would pay for trapping them. The pigs come over (or came over) from Lake Miona wetlands and are now part of the wildlife in The Villages. As long as they have not hurt people, they are like any other wildlife here like snakes, coyotes, bobcats, etc.

Of course, you could always contact The Villages Administrative Office and make your case for having The Villages reimburse your neighborhood for the pig trapping.
It's easy to be cavalier about ferrel pigs until they are tearing up your yard. I suspect your attitude would change. Also, these animals are not indigenous to the U.S., let alone FL. Given your rational, if someone were let a heard of elephants loose in The Villages, they would become part of the local wildlife and nothing could be done about it.
