chachacha is right. Remember that Spanish Springs was built to look like an old Spanish settlement. Complete with a town square, a hotel (Van Patton House aka Katie Belle's), Taverns (McCalls), and as any old Spanish square, it would not be complete with out a church on the square. This is "Disney-esque" with stories and folklore that you can see on he small signs scattered throughout Spanish Springs. The "Hotel" never was a hotel, but added to the overall atmosphere.

I think the same of the Church on the Square. It has been used for worship services, but now it's function has changed. But it remains "the church on the square" to provide the old town feeling.

Like any change, some people are happy about the change in it's function, others are not. The only sure thing in life is change. Gotta go with the flow.

"The Sharon" looks fabulous and still completes it's function as the "Church on the square", by providing the beautiful Spanish detail.
