Laying off people is nothing new - happens all the time for a variety of reasons. You apparently worked in the public sector where layoffs never happen as the tax payer just takes it in the shorts. I have worked for IBM and have seen lots of people get laid off because the company moved out of some markets and into others. Unfortunate but it does happen in the real world. A lots of planned mergers never happen - they are often a risky proposition. Many C-level executives have employment contracts. Making all the right decisions in very complex business environments is very difficult. At least she has been there.

She lost to a democrat incumbent in a left-wing state by only 10 points - pretty good showing since 90% of incumbents are reelected.

You seem very naive and uninformed and apparently hate Carly Fiorina for no real reason. I assume you are a democrat. You see the world as black and white when it reality it is grey. I pity you.

In your accolades for Ms Fioriana, you fail to mention that as CEO of HP she laid off thousands, botched a merger, and left with 21 million after being fired. Her only accomplishment since that time seems to be her losing senate race to Senator Barbara Boxer in California by 10 percentage points.
