I want to acknowledge that this is a sad event indeed.

However hit and run accident have been going on since the beginning of time.

It is with this thought that it makes it all the worse because you would want to believe that we would be more civilized by now.

As some of you know i spent my entire career in insurance and unfortunately the fact is hit and run accidents are a common as doughnuts.

I recall investigating a pedestrian accident wherein a 20 year old woman was struck down and left on the highway only to have another car dragged her some 500 feet. Who I thought would not have come to this woman's aid leaving her there like a dog? We insured the second car. a president of a large corporation he did all he could to avoid what he thought was a winter coat lying in the road. He was totally unhinged and suffered pangs of guilty that probably followed him his entire life. In fact you could see the sadness overcome everyone who was some way involved in this investigation and ensuing follow ups

The hit and run driver was never found.
