As I stated in past posts, you wouldn't want to grow seedlings in zone 9A, but the adults do just fine, as history and the experts attest. When the experts say not to be grown North of 9B, it is applicable to nurseries growing seedlings. As with humans, adults are tougher. They have been growing this far North for 100 years, I expect them to continue to grow here another 100 years ....even though some people tell them they can't do it.
