Default Vegans: Why are you not a carnivore or vegetarian

Why did you become a vegan? I realize that different people may have different reasons. And you might have more than one reason.

As I have said before I became a vegan after reading The China Study back in 2006, (a book by T. Colin Campbell). His extensive research, that he conducted himself over several decades convinced me that animal protein promotes cancer, and cancer is what I'm trying to avoid. Veganism, according to his research, also helps to prevent many other degenerative diseases.

I decided that as far as other regimens go, they may claim to be better tasting but how good will they be if you don't have good health? Good health is paramount. I can't imagine how I would enjoy life if I had cancer, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis or some other degenerative disease.
