Default Garage door transmitter changed codes by itself?

My MVP Allstar transmitter started opening my neighbor's door. I understand how to fix it, what I cannot explain is how it happened?

This one has me scratching my head. There must be a logical explanation, but I cannot see it. I have questioned the only other person that uses the transmitter and they flatly denied changing anything. I did not even remember how to set the codes until I started investigating, so I am not guilty.

The transmitter in wife's cart stopped working last week, so she stopped using it. It had been working for as long as I can remember. She says I knew about it and did nothing as only the love of your life can. In my own defense I .... oh what difference does it make

Today I grabbed the transmitter to head out for a bike ride. I tried to close door and nothing happened (see I really did forget). I did notice my neighbors door was opening which I thought was good timing as he needed some help with a sprinkler issue and we could catch up. He never came out, so I went back to closing my garage door. I pushed the button and still nothing, but now my neighbor's door was closing. I may not be the brightest bulb, but even I knew we had ourselves an issue. Push again, his opens, mine does not move.

So, the question I cannot answer is how the heck does my garage door transmitter now have my neighbor's code instead of mine if NO ONE reset it?

Thanks

PS. If the answer is so obvious that only a moron would not know, please just PM me
