Yesterday, we participated with a group of about 70 from Gilchrist ( along with a couple thousand other volunteers ) placing flags at veterans graves. Our group was organized by Sue Makarewicz and her husband Dave and we worked section 501 and one of the Columbariums. What a great and humbling day. The Cemetary has over 100,000. A beautiful place. And what a great way to honor our veterans on this Memorial Day weekend. It was truly touching to see all of the cars, jeeps, motorcycles, buses, etc. all bringing volunteers to place flags throughout the Cemetary. We were proud to be part of such a great project.
