I posted this on the 2 forums thread and I'll post it here since this is the thread I was talking about. And then, I've promised myself to never read any of the political stuff on TOTV again!

I found all the hullabaloo on the For Democrats Only thread a mystery. To me it was obvious that the original posting was pure satire. The fact that Tal found a similar one for Republicans proved that point to me. I think both were meant to point out the differences in party stance, but with a twist -- one for democrats one for republicans.

Satire has a very long history of use for political commentary. In school the example we read was by Jonathan Swift about how the Irish eat their babies. Did the Irish really eat their babies? Of course not. Outrageous? Yes, that's what makes it satire. (See, I wasn't sleeping, or at least during that lecture!)

And I just looked it up. The Swift example of satire was written in 1729! Very long history! http://art-bin.com/art/omodest.html
