As far as I am concerned your actions are acceptable. Making an obvious attempt at keeping traffic moving without endangering others makes sense. You nay find an occasional LEO agreeing.

As a cart driver I try not to make direct eye contact with the other driver. After a few seconds gesticulating they usually move on. By the way, I said direct eye contact. I have them in the corner of my eye.
