The Obama family is not the first to use Air Force One for overseas trips. Laura Bush made 5 trips to Africa without the President. The twins went on those trips, too. They did the ultra first class things like private safaris.

All of these trips (then and now) are under the guise of some form of humanitarian effort.

You may express discontent about this current trip but temper it with past trips by Presidential families.
