I have no statistics, but I have always figured that the newer the neighborhood, the higher the percentage of renters because there are those who buy new homes way ahead of retirement and have to be landlords for a while. (There are TV sales people who can be quite good at creating a sense of urgency to buy. New. Especially.)

As neighborhoods become more settled, they appear to have fewer rentals. But this is just an opinion based on observation only. No stats.

One part of my anecdotal evidence is that our street in mid-Villages is less than half snowbirds, including those who come and go at different times throughout the year but never rent out their homes. (I think those are called "snowflakes.") There is only one rental on our street.
