What you have labelled the fair tax is not a fair tax despite its name. It is a tax designed to have those whose economic condition requires them to spend what money they make on taxable products and services. If you are wealthy and have income that is being saved or spent outside of this country, that money is earned tax free. It is the most regressive tax system possible. We have always had a progressive income tax system on the belief that those who have the highest incomes can be expected to contribute more to the national welfare. Of course the wealthy would love to get rid of that system so they can increase their domination of wealth in our country. What we really need is more upward mobility for the top earners as they are suffering so badly over the last 25 years.
