Actually, the last six years have been quite an education for me, and a warning as to "what can happen"
When our President was elected, I worried not that much. I had confidence in what our founding fathers had put together. Three branches of government with mant checks and balances.
I never in my wildest dreams considered how a President and a leader of the senate could take over the country. See how the Affordable Care Act was ramrod dead through, manipulating the congress to pass costly and far reaching legislation without consultation, not only with the opposition, but with his own party and to pass it without reading.
I never even considered his race to be a factor, nor felt he would use the bully pulpit to support criminal activity in the name of racial justice. To ignore the law and make Herod of criminals, along with diminishing respect for those who are sworn to uphold the law he ignores.
These are two huge social impacts I could not imagine, but am certainly aware of now.
I read of his training and background but worried not, until he and Harry Reid showed us how to manipulate the congress in unintended ways.
I never felt any President would simply ignore the law of the land. I felt he would need to at least speak to congress on laws, but it appears that you do not need to do that.
While I knew he was a great politician, so many great politicians before him, left that part behind them and became statesman. He has shown that in your face pure politics can be done,at a severe price but it can be done.
No, the last six years have shown me that perhaps the background is important and that trusting someone who "sells"hope can turn out so wrong.
