I have to chuckle when you state "I often get after certain posters for party politics.." when this is a political forum. That is pretty funny. And "divorce" my party? Why in the world would I do that? That IS what makes me an American. By the way, I did not say I was a Republican in my statement, but I am. Am I supposed to boycott my next door neighbors because they are Democrats? They are Democrats, and friends. Perhaps, you just misused the term "obscene."

Your post implies that whatever party you are affiliated with is perfect and you totally agree with everything they say.
I suggest that is almost impossible.
MY OPINION is that no real American votes PARTY first but on the issues. When we agree most times with one party then we register with that party and we can vote anyway we want. Voting STRAIGHT PARTY, to me, is lazy and un american.
The alternative is lets just count up the registrations and do not vote at all. I proudly say
I have never voted straight party in my life and I used to work for one party years ago.
I have never selected a business based on their political philosophy
I have never selected a friend based on their political philosophy
I do feel it obscene to even utter the words "boycott democrat run businesses."
THAT statement or act is about as un american as anyone can be. It is also very very scary to hear someone say that no matter how it is intended.
