My wife mentioned to me that our dryer was not working properly this past January. I brushed it off as I do with many household issues. My lack of action almost cost us big time. I have cleaned the dryer vent from the interior of the dryer thru the 12 feet of pipe to the outside vent, I also have a device in the pipe which advances the lint and also reduces the size of the lint before blowing it outside. It appeared my every other year cleaning approach served us well until the day I got the call to get downstairs fast. I am disabled and nothing is fast anymore. The dryer had caught on FIRE. Thankfully I put the fire out. In the Yellow Pages under vent cleaning I found a company called Duct Dudes. The machine this man used to do the job was impressive, the truck had a series of 8 large bags that inflated and sucked the lint from places inside the dryer that it is impossible for anyone to get to. The point....get a pro...cost about $100 and worth every penny. Already made our appointment for next year. I'm in N.J. and am waiting for the green light to move south...should be happening shortly. I would love to be an asset to our fellow Villagers and this is a small but good start. Take Care.
