That's an excuse, jap or European bikes aren't loud until you open them up. I don't mind deep toned baffled straight through sound, but straight pipes are ridiculous. You can tell the ones that got straight pipes when they let off the back pressure louder than the acceleration. Baffles muffle the back pressure.

I had several 50s, 60s and early 70s cars. Flat head ford with glasspacks (or steelpacks before 1965) was about the sweetest sound I heard, my stock 69 GTX with 440/375 idle was sweet with factory mufflers, nice loop with high lift cam and factory idle speed.

use to do with new glass packs pour diesel in them no burn them out, but they still had baffling.
