No, the majority of voters did not elect him, a slight majority (2.2% more than Romney) elected him of those eligible to vote. Unfortunately, of the 229, 700,000 people in the US eligible to vote in the last Presidential election, sadly only 126.853,000 actually voted (all Census Bureau numbers), thus it was 28.7% of those eligible to vote that elected him as compared to 26.5% for Romney. But then, the popular vote does not technically matter anyway as the Electoral College vote is what the election is decided by.
As to compromise, when was the last time that Obama compromised on anything? I may be wrong, it has happened before, but I cannot seriously remember any issue where he compromised at all, at least not to any extent that made the news??
