I called and they came out and trimmed but after all summer now I have sticks showing all over the bushes and I need to hand trim back to the first leaf. I was trying to be a good neighbor and keep the yard nice while I was away so much for a first impression.
Also if you sign up for a trimming service be sure to post a note inside your unit so your homewatch person knows who and what you are paying for. I didn't and my person had no idea that I was paying for a service all summer that I wasn't getting. These people look after a lot of houses and a note on the refrig would help them know whats what. I didn't and should have.

During the summer when it rains a lot bushes grow very fast and you may see considerable growth in as short a period as a week. Most bushes can be easily trimmed with house scissors. We do our own trimming but live here year 'round and keep after it. Good arm exercise and a job that makes you feel you accomplished something.
The weeds are another story. They plot to overcome.
